Masters Week 2015

Comments Off on Masters Week 2015

Bonaventure Golf is a Waters’ family business on its 4th generation. We have celebrated this special week for many years. We enjoy watching the professionals showcase their skills. We’ve witnessed lucky shots and mortal magic. But Masters Week is so much more than that to us.

Masters Week means seeing friends that we haven’t seen since Masters Week last year. Some of these friends have been visiting us annually for 50 years. We can’t wait to see who shows up every year.   It’s like a reunion.    “What’s been going on?” “How’s the family?” “How old is ___ now?” Who got married? Who got divorced? Who moved? Did you have a boy or a girl?

We also love our international customers. We are very proud to say many of them return to say hello every year. Obviously, many of the Masters competitors are from other countries and they do indeed have their own fans. If a particular Masters competitor is favored to win and is from a foreign country, we know that country will be well represented during the tournament.

We have great love for the Augusta National temporary employees. Hundreds of workers travel to Augusta for this sacred week. Some are marshalls, scorekeepers, food and beverage service, press, etc. Many take vacations from their usual job that week just so they can work here.  They are as happy to be here as we are to have them here.

So, if you’re in town Masters Week, please stop by. You can only fall into one of two categories.
1) Friend.
2) Someone we haven’t met yet.

Many customers place orders for golf equipment so that it will be available to be picked up during Masters Week. If we can help you, please call us at 706-868-6448, or email us.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook  and Twitter.  Visit our website https://www.bonaventurediscountgolf.com/ and join our mailing list to stay updated with all our specials!

Do people really bite the golf balls”? ABSOLUTELY!

PLEASE DO NOT BITE INTO GOLF BALLS !!!!!
THANK YOU

In the past, golf balls were designated as a specific compression.  The USGA decided that putting a specific compression on an entire box was misleading since each ball could be a bit different. They instructed the golf ball companies to take the compression designation off their boxes and balls.  Now the boxes will say “low compression”, “more spin” or “more distance” – code words hinting at the compression of the balls.  The savvy customer didn’t believe it.  They would remove the ball from the box and dig their fingernails into the cover to determine the softness of the ball’s covers.  They may bounce the ball on the concrete floor to assess the compression – making the ball out-of-round.  And yes, bite the golf ball.

To make matters worse, the very one doing the biting, would put the ball back into the box and buy a different box!  This is one of the signs we had to put up at the shop.
